amyflag asked: I am moving out of state and thinking about selling my car, which has carpool lane stickers. (The state is no longer issuing these stickers). I’ve heard anecdotes and found one news story that some people are willing to pay a couple thousand more for a car with these stickers — has anyone experienced this? How much more should I ask? Will I get the same added value if I trade my car in to a dealer, or would it be better to sell it privately? On that note — I’ve never sold a car — what’s the best way? A website to use? Signs in the window somehow doesn’t seem the best to me.
If you’re still reading, thanks!
FYI — I’m going to grad school in a place with great public transportation, plus my boyfriend will have his car — just seems like a good way to save some money.
The stickers are definitely transferrable to a new owner, and although they’re not rare now, no new stickers are being issued because the state reached its cap, so anyone who buys a new hybrid cannot get stickers.
